Academic policies that are not directly tied to the degree, major, minor, and concentration requirements are constantly in review. Students need to make themselves aware of these policies in addition to their degree requirements. Academic policies are published annually on the registrar’s website as the current academic year’s catalog. Amendments to a degree, major, minor, and concentration requirements are posted to students electronically as well as posted as an addendum to the specific year’s catalog on the registrar’s website.

Academic Petition

A student who believes there is an extenuating circumstance warranting an academic petition to policy must provide a rationale addressing the extenuating circumstance. Incomplete rationales will not be approved and submitting a petition does not guarantee approval. A program’s curricular requirements do not require a formal petition unless the student wishes to appeal the department’s decision. Academic Petition forms are located on the Registrar’s SharePoint site.

Appeal of Academic Policy Decision
A decision that is denied by the Dean may be appealed to the Committee on Academic Standing and Degrees within ten (10) business days of the outcome. An appeal must include additional arguments to show a reason for the Dean’s decision to be appealed. The outcome from the Committee on Academic Standing and Degrees is final.

Academic Record

The Registrar’s Office is the record custodian of the official academic record through an academic transcript. The official record includes the term in which a course was taken, course grade, and quality points, in addition to academic standing, and is sorted by academic level. Official transcripts will be withheld until all financial accounts are settled. Unofficial transcripts are available to active students via self-service BannerWeb.

Estimated Graduation Date

To comply with federal regulations, each student is assigned an estimated graduation date at the time of matriculation which is documented four years after the first matriculation. The office reserves the right to update, to comply with regulations, once enrollment surpasses the estimated date. A student may also update their estimated date by completing a graduation change of semester/year form available on the Registrar's SharePoint site.
